A Mathematical Universe
If you name your cosmological theory after a type of cheese, you immediately have my attention. Calling it “the Swiss-cheese model” is a nice counterbalance to the heaviness of the subject matter—the structure of the universe itself.
My challenge here was to express in prose the considerable enthusiasm that the subject of this profile, an undergraduate named Yeorgia Kafkoulis, had for her research. Luckily for me, she also was adept at communicating about the science. I’ll be rooting for her when they’re handing out the Fields Medal in 202x.
